music: The Eraser

Eisley song: Just Like We Do
Stacy Dupree is great. she's the youngest of the three sisters that make up Eisley, but she is by far the most talented.
and she shares a birthday with thom yorke, so she MUST be destined for greatness.
hopefully this will result in my first concert review:

so i picked the latest Spin Magazine.
i used to subscribe to it, and i wanted to see what they have to say about Jack White and the Racontuers
well i was pretty disappointed with the magazine as a whole.
one of the real reasons i subscribed in the first place was because it put music first, and didn't f*ck around with things that weren't related to the whole reason for the magazine.
so first problem:
it has a feature article about Chernobyl.
you know, the nuclear disaster that happened twenty years ago?
great article and informative, but shouldn't this be in TIME?
next, a new feature:
sex column with porn star: ima hore! (ok ok, i mean Joanna Angel. no really. her.)
a sex column? WHY?
most people who read sex columns are going to be 25-35 year old WOMEN, not your target audience of 16-29 year old indie nerds.
i have a problem with this mostly because, as a 22 year old indie nerd, I'M NOT HAVING SEX. THANKS FOR REMINDING ME!
next up:
video game reviews.
two things wrong with this.
one, all the games that were reviewed, were reviewed a month earlier in a Game Informer and i'm sure every other gaming magazine out there. not exactly up to date are we?
two, i really don't give a rat's ass what you thnk of tomb raider. or spy hunter. or Godfather the Game. why? because you're a MUSIC magazine. i read for cd/music reviews. reading what you think of "rockstar games presents table tennis" is as ridiculous as reading Nintendo Power telling me "A Chemical Romance" is a great band. it's not the opinion i want.
the magazine had a few saving graces, like the interview with The Racontuers and the Summer tour guide was informative (i'll forgive them leaving out Austin City Limits)
but i think what the problem is that i can find all this stuff on spin.com or any other music blog out there. and quicker. so what's happening is that spin's marketing dept. is freaking out, and is trying to give reasons to consumers to buy. in my opinion though, they picked the wrong things.
feature more ulragrrl and PLEASE feature more chuck klosterman
